A warm welcome to the students from Huron Heights and KCI.
In our class we've been studying the novel The Boy in the Striped Pajamas. It takes place at Auschwitz, the location of a Nazi concentration camp during World War II. We've learned about how Bruno, the young child of the Nazi camp commander, develops an unlikely friendship with a Jewish boy named Shmuel. While the two boys are separated by a barbed wire fence and initially have great difficulty in understanding each other, they look forward to meeting each other almost everyday. Eventually, the boys end up forming a close bond and they cherish the relationship that they have. Assignment: Use complete sentences Considering your own experience, explain the value of friendship by answering all the following questions: - Why is friendship so important for everyone? or Why do we all want friends? - Is it possible to go through life without friends - Yes or No? Give at least one clear reason that supports your opinion. - What qualities do your best friends have? Why are these qualities important to you? Be specific here; don't forget about friends who are your relatives or are members of your close family. - Have you met some new friends Grade 9? Who are they? Remember: Similar to the activity last Friday, your comment will not be posted until I approve it. As well, when you comment, remember to use your first name, initial of your last name, and your school (eg. David. B. JHSS). Don't include your email address.
